Suzanne Midgley
Orthoptist
Born and bred in the local Warragul area, Suzanne completed a Bachelor of Orthoptics at LaTrobe University, graduating in 1996. Her first position was in a private general ophthalmology practice in Hobart, Tasmania. After 2 years in Tasmania, Suzanne headed back to the mainland and began working at the Ballarat Eye Clinic. After 6 years in Ballarat, the travel bug bit and Suzanne embarked on a backpacking holiday through UK and Europe for 18 months.
Once in the UK, Suzanne experienced a career change and began working in administration, working as a print buyer and then as a buyer for Global medical publishing company Elsevier and Reed Elsevier. 6 years later, Suzanne returned to live in Australia. After an extended period of leave to raise her family, Suzanne returned to the local area and recommenced her Orthoptic career by working for A/Prof Christine Chen in 2016.
As an Orthoptist, Suzanne is dedicated to providing patients with comprehensive eye examinations in a professional, yet friendly, manner. Combined with her administrative skills, Suzanne is a clinic all-rounder.

Danielle Smith
Orthoptist
Having completed a Bachelor of Orthoptics at LaTrobe University in 1996, Danielle began working in a private ophthalmic practice in the Melbourne CBD and at Cabrini Hospital and particularly enjoyed contributing to the care of her patients and furthering her knowledge in the areas of medical retina and inflammatory eye diseases. When her children came along she took a lengthy break from Orthoptics, moving to Drouin in 2007 and quickly learning to love the area where she worked in Early Childhood for several years. Recently she took the opportunity to recommence her Orthoptic profession. Danielle is loving being part of the growing team at Gippsland Eye Centre and is passionate about contributing to providing excellence in eyecare for the Gippsland community.

Jacki Fry
Nurse
Jacki is a local, having been born and raised in the West Gippsland area. She began her nursing training at the West Gippsland Hospital completing it in 1988. She worked there for a further 17 years. Whilst at WGH, Jacki obtained a short course certificate in Coronary Care and completed her Bachelor of Nursing by distance Education through Deakin University. After working in a permanent position on the High Dependency Unit, Jacki left the hospital setting in a permanent capacity and commenced work with the Baw Baw Shire as an immunisation nurse in 1997 obtaining her certificate and becoming a mentor through Latrobe University. Whilst working in the local government setting Jacki also did work with Federation Health in Occupational Health and Safety, and with Lifescreen doing health assessments for the insurance industry. She worked as a practice nurse for 4 years and whilst there met and worked with the Gippsland Eye Centre team.
Jacki has a wide range of nursing experience and a confident, practical and able member of the team who enjoys the patient interactions and takes on the nursing and administration tasks of the clinic with competence.
